This trail-blazing long-winding TV adventure has successfully courted extensive media coverage all along since its kick-off on August 8 in Taicang, Jiangsu. Hong Kong's leading newspapers, agency and wire services like Xinhua News Agency and FAX News closely monitored the journey with curiosity and admiration.
Phoenix crew unfolded to the media about their six-week marine adventures ever since they set off. They overcame arduous challenges such as typhoons, tropical current, boat crash and extremely hot cabin temperature reaching up to 45¡C. Combating the wide ocean head-on is as daunting as climbing the Everest, crossing the Sahara Desert or Antarctica, the experts indicated.
With state-of-the-art equipment and satellite facilities on board, the crew has so far produced 50-hours of footage and documented 40,000 words of sea journal, recording exotic places along the route like Tai Zhou ancient city, Ma Zu Temple of Mei Zhou, Fujian and the ancient ocean landmark tower of Zhe Jiang etc.
The footages were transmitted to the Phoenix headquarters and broadcast daily inside Good Morning China, Phoenix Afternoon Express and Phoenix Midnight News Update to keep viewers engrossed in the extraordinarily journey. During this brief stopover, a new member, Ho Ming Lai, replaced journalist Zheng Ho as team leader and director. Aged 35 and born in Hong Kong, Ho is a graduate of Journalism and Communication at Hong Kong Baptist University. He is keen on various sporting activities. With comprehensive first aid and life saving training and experience, Ho is more than ready to face the upcoming oceanic challenges. |
