Hong Kong November 30, 2004 – Phoenix Satellite Television Company Limited(Phoenix TV) (鳳凰衛視有限公司) announced today that Phoenix Chinese (鳳凰衛視中文台) and Phoenix InfoNews (鳳凰衛視資訊台) channels are due to launch on Hong Kong Broadband Pay TV Services (香港寬頻收費電視) tomorrow (December 1). This arrangement will make the 24-hour programming of these two leading Putonghua channels available to all Hong Kong Broadband Pay TV services subscribers.
Phoenix TV has achieved now its primary target of expanding its broadcast network in Hong Kong, although the company will continue to look for opportunities to collaborate with other appropriate partners to serve the Hong Kong audience on an even wider basis.
Phoenix TV has successfully signed cooperation agreements with several pay TV operators in Hong Kong over the past months, enabling both Phoenix Chinese and InfoNews channels to deliver round-the-clock variety as well as news and information programmes to viewers in Hong Kong through different platforms. These platforms now include SMATV system (衛星電視共用天線系統), CABLE TV (有線電視), now Broadband TV (now寬頻電視), exTV subscription
television service (銀河衛視) and the newly added Hong Kong Broadband Pay TV Services (香港寬頻收費電視).
Since commencing to broadcast on 31 March 1996, Phoenix Chinese Channel has offered a diverse variety of Chinese programming with productions from China and abroad, including news, dramas, documentaries, interviews and variety programmes. Additionally, the channel produces a number of popular programmes such as The Asian Journal (時事直通車), Good Morning China(鳳凰早班車), Phoenix Tonight(相聚鳳凰台), Behind The Headlines With Wen Tao(鏘鏘三人行), Newsline(時事開講) and Panoramic Eyeshot Of Phoenix(鳳凰大視野). Phoenix InfoNews broadcasts to audiences in China and some 50 countries/regions in the Asia Pacific via AsiaSat3. In October 2004, it began broadcasting in the United Stated via ECHOSTAR.
