LIU Changle --- The Chairman & CEO of Phoenix Satellite Television Holdings Ltd
 

Liu Changle, born in Shanghai in 1951, is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Satellite Television. He graduated from the Communication University of China in 1980. Then he joined the Central People¡¯s Radio Station and served in various positions from journalist, editor, and commentator to senior management executive.

Liu began to pursue his business aspiration in 1988. His business activities in China and overseas include petroleum, infrastructure, real estate, trading, broadcasting and publications.

On March 31, 1996, Liu¡¯s Today¡¯s Asia Ltd. teamed up Satellite Asian Region Ltd. and China Wise International to establish the Phoenix Satellite Television Co Ltd. He serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer ever since then. Phoenix went public in 2000 and is listed on the Hong Kong Growth Enterprise Market.

Thanks to Liu¡¯s direction, Phoenix Satellite TV has expanded rapidly from a single general entertainment channel to an integrated multi-media group with Phoenix Chinese Channel, Phoenix InfoNews Channel, Phoenix Movies Channel, Phoenix NA Chinese Channel in the U.S. and Phoenix CNE Channel in Europe, and a publication named Phoenix Weekly and a comprehensive web media. Covering 150 countries and regions in Asia Pacific, Europe, America, Latin America and Africa, Phoenix Satellite Television has now become a global well-known brand.

In January 2001, Liu is granted the title as one of ¡°The Ten Most Influential Chinese¡± by Voice of China monthly magazine. In August 2000, The New News Weekly of Taiwan, Ming Pao Daily and Metro Broadcast Corporation Ltd of Hong Kong jointly held a survey of ¡°Power 50 Year 2000¡±. Liu ranked 78 among 150 nominees from the Greater China region. In December 2000, China News Weekly selected Liu as one of the Top Ten Intellects of the Media. In 2001, Liu ranked 17 in Asiaweek¡¯s ¡°Power 50¡± survey. And in the same year, he was also listed in the ¡°Man of the Cover in the 21st Century Award¡± jointly organized by United Nations Development Program, the Office of Poverty Alleviation of the State Council of China and Hong Kong Commercial Daily. In May 2004, Liu received the Robert Mundell Successful World CEO Award, an award named after the Nobel Prize winning economist, ¡°father of Euro¡±, professor Robert Mundell. In March 2005, International Managers Association gave Liu the honor as one of the Top Ten Outstanding CEOs in China.

Liu is a council member of Nanjing University and an honorary visiting professor at the Communication University of China and Tianjin Nankai University. He is also cultural Advisor to the Tianjin Municipal Government, Advisor on foreign economic cooperation to the Hebei Provincial Government, and Vice Chairman of Outstanding Chinese Fund.

Liu is one of the major shareholders in Asia Television Limited. He was appointed Chairman of both the 2005 & 2006 iEMMYs Festival by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
